Eliminating junk content from your essay

Writing an essay may seem like a very easy task. We’ve been taught to write essays from a very young age. Most people believe that there is a certain format to follow, and you’re good to go. However, there’s much more to writing an essay. There are several things you need to take care of other than the format of it. For example: the content of the essay. When writing an essay we tend to get lost in the words and write whatever that comes to our mind. We lose focus of what is important and mix sentences to spin an essay. To make our essays stand out or to impress our audience we try to add lots and lots of fancy words and phrases. We add in complex sentences with unnecessary details. These do not add to the quality of your essay but it makes it fluffy. All the unnecessary things you add to your essay are called fluff in the world of writing. Fluff works as a pad to help you reach the word count. Reaching the word count is important but this should not be achieved by putting the quality of the essay in question. The quality of your essay is compromised when you add all sorts of unnecessary things. You need to be concise in your writing and focus on the value of the content. If your writing is filled with fluff and fillers it will not be as beneficial to the readers as it should be. Essays are usually written to get information on a certain topic, if you keep beating around the bush and don’t get straight to the point you will be wasting the time of readers and they might even shift off and read something else.  When you keep adding on words to your essays that do not contribute much to the topic, you increase the wordiness of the essay rather than the meaning. Too many words decrease the clarity of your essay and defeats the purpose of writing it in the first place. To make the most out of your essay you must eliminate all the junk from it. Learn the tips and tricks that can help you do that. Follow the below mentioned tricks and your content will be a 100% junk-free.

1) Map out your essay. Before you start writing your essay, take a pen and paper and map out your essay. Write an outline, start with the introduction, and divide your points into different paragraphs. Finally end it with a conclusion. Once you make an outline, it will help you write your essay and you will not stray away from the topic. Even if you do you can always refer back to the outline. This will help you avoid all the fluff from your essay. Gathering your thoughts and being able to write in a strategic way is your prime focus.

2) Avoid writing in passive voice. When you write in passive voice you tend to use more words than necessary. Passive voice includes the most fluff. Students believe that when they use passive voice they sound more intelligent and articulate. However, that is not really true. Passive voice turns out to be very boring. The idea that you can express in a single sentence, must not be expressed in a complete paragraph. Use active voice to avoid the fluff. Active voice makes your writing more interesting and the readers enjoy it because of its readability and direct deliverance of the message.

3) Try to avoid waffling. Rambling on and on about something can be a bad thing for your essay. Avoid writing your essay with just a little research. Before you start writing your essay, do a complete research. Skim through all the books on the topic, search for scholarly articles and even essays. This will help you articulate your thoughts. You will be able to make valid arguments supported with evidence rather than just rambling on without any concrete point. Your research will surely show through your writing. Don’t make the mistake of starting your essay without a thorough research.

4) Redundancy is a fatal move. Redundant phrases in your essay can kill the interest of your reader. Redundancy is when you keep repeating the same point over and over again. Students use pompous words in order to impress the audience but it backfires as the audience is not interested in your knowledge of saying the same thing in five different ways. They are more interested in how you convey the message within a few sentences concisely. It may be hard for people to refrain from showing off their language skills but doing this only makes your content weaker. It also shows your lacking of practical knowledge. It’s best to stop using redundant sentences.

5) Improve on your vocabulary. Students often have a weak vocabulary. When expressing ideas. They have to use long sentences when they can easily use a word to express what they want to say. This may also lead to vagueness of the content, if they are not able to explain their point clearly even after using a lot of words. To avoid vagueness use precise words. But it is not something you can do immediately. You must read many things to be able to improve your vocabulary and learn such words for example:  epidemic that means a disease or a problem that is affecting many people or impervious that means someone who is unaffected by the opinions or actions of other people. Using such words will not only bring clarity or conciseness in your content but will also make it more knowledgeable.

6) Remove the things that are commonly known by people. When writing your essay keep the audience in your mind. There are many things that you need not explain in your essay as they might know it on their own. When you keep on explaining basic concepts in your essay that the reader is already aware of, then it gets excruciatingly boring for the reader. Skip out the common knowledge as it can also be considered as fluff. Make your content more directed towards your target audience rather than catering to everyone.

7) Read your content after you have written it. Identify all the words and phrases that you have overly used. It is very common for writers to choose favorite words and phrases and repeatedly use them in whatever they write. These words are often a part of your writing style and are not necessary for example: using phrases such as ‘in fact’, ‘in order that’ or even ‘in spite of the fact that’. All these phrases become a part of our writing style and unconsciously we use them time and time again. When you read your Essay Rewriting Services, highlight all such words and change them when you edit. You can even completely delete them and let the sentence go as is, they will not affect the meaning of the sentence and are just an extra part.

8) Avoid using unnecessary determiners and modifiers. Students gladly use them as they think it adds more meaning to their sentences. But using determiners and modifiers do not serve any such purpose. Modifying a noun will not make much of a difference and is unnecessary. For example: ‘any particular type of dress is perfect for me’ in this sentence the word ‘particular’ does not serve any important function and is unnecessary. You can simply skip it and the sentence will not change meaning.

9) Edit, edit and edit. Never submit an essay without editing it. Editing is very important in indentifying all the mistakes. You must sit down with a cup of tea and go over your essay multiple times, highlight and correct the errors. When you edit you will be able to understand all your repetitive writing patterns and you can easily change them. You will also be able to realize if your content is plagued with redundant sentences and change that.

10) If you are facing difficulty in editing your essay you can even take help from a trusted friend or even a professional. They will be reading it for the first time and will be able to pick up on the errors easily. If you can’t find a friend or relative to do it for you then hire a professional editor. They are very apt at this and will professionally identify all mistakes, correct them and will also help you improve your writing style.
